My girlfriend has had a 10 gall saltwater tank for about 3 or 4 months. Shes got 15 pounds of live rock with two small clowns and a pepermint shrimp. She said shes content on the fish in there but what about anemone.

I know most anemones require lots of light...what about a Purple tip Condi?
I see them in the fish stores with little light and they are cheap. I am not concerned about the clowns hosting it. If they do they do, if they dont they dont.
Her lighting is stock florescent.

the clowns will not go close to a condi, because it is a non hosting nem, I think that the condi can actually harm the clowns if they tried to host in it. Although I have seen yellow tailed damsels host in them.

i had one once, but only because it came with a 4 pound live rock for free, but the nem would attack me when i got near it

clowns are funny, they will host in just about anything. I know a vid i saw one was hosting in a Lion Fish's spikes

really? i doubt my girlfriend would like that too much.
Like i said i do not care if it is a hosting nem or not, but i do care if it attacks stuff. lol

I would get a pretty piece of the flourescent hammer coral. My clowns host in mine and it sways in the current. Adds a lot of beauty to the tank.

wouldn't that require at least pc lighting?

They can do ok under PC but not sure about standard flourescents.

I've got two gbta's and they don't attack anything. The two peppermints I have actually steal food out of them all the time.

that nem is a little different from a condi from my understanding.
i have a GBTA and it doesnt attack anything as well.

My condi insists on hogging the light and appears to need a lot (as well as being very large) but I did have a maroon that would host with one.

A flower anemone would do well (I have one in an 8 gallon) without harming the clowns but the clowns may or may not host (I know of a cinnamon that did and can direct you to a photo if you PM me but it is on a commercial site and I am not yet clear when we can and cannot post links. I do have a strong affiliation with the site, being its webmaster). These are one of my favorite anemones and are interesting to feed as well as offering color and being easy to care for.

An alternate would be a curly cue, but again, it is iffy for hosting but fine for lower light and I have two in my clown tank and one in the 8 gallon with the flower (and mantis).

My clarkies don't host with any of the Caribbeans (there are no hosting fish in the Caribbean, only shrimps) but I have heard they often don't host at all.
