I am in the process of taking down my tank to be disinfected and cleaned due to an unknown problem.

So I want to dip and medicate and quarantine every coral and fish to make sure NOTHING gets in the tank again.

So tell me what you do.

I am planning on putting the fish in hyposalinity of 1.015 with a UV for 2 months to kill the ich, but what else should I do?

Im also planning to dip all corals in lugals and interceptor.

What else should I get and how long should I dip?

Sounds like you have a pretty good preventative practice.

For me,

Fish: very little qt and generally no dip. I Know that this is a gamble, but I don't buy many fish, and I try to watch them for a while or buy from a friend that has had the fish for a while.

Corals:
Melafix marine
Seachem reef dip
(most importantly) 6-12hr interceptor dip.

ok after some research here is my current plan

For the fish ill be doing the following. ( fish are 9 tangs, 3 anthias, 3 clowns, 3 chromis, 2 engineer gobys and 3 wrasses and a mandarin)

I plan to do a 5 min freshwater dip to all fish before putting them in QT. QT will be a 100g rubber maid troth freshly cleaned and filled with brand new RODI water and IO salt(mixed 2 days before)

Ill be doing 1.009 dropped from 1.025 over 2 days via dosing pump. Ill be running the water through a 57w UV at 300gph which will then go through a media reactor with filter floss and 1/4 cup of carbon which will be changed every other day. Along with 50% weekly water changes(or more often as needed) I will return the salinity to 1.025 after 6 weeks of no ich symptoms. Total QT time will be no less then 12 weeks.

For the corals Ill do a 5 min freshwater dip, then a 10 min Iodine dip, followed by a 12 hour interceptor dip before being placed in a separate QT with brand new salt water. Crabs, snails, shrimp and starfish will be added to this system after the dipping is done.

Should I do any other kind of medication/dip before or during QT? I literally want NOTHING alive but coral and fish after this is done.

I am worried about how my blue linkia and my mandarin will do through this process with no pods of live rock to graze on....

you can always buy some pod cultures to feed them. Its not cheap but you are only doing it until your tank is back online and running its own culture.

Fish are done, freshwater dip may have killed a scopas and a wrasse but the rest seem to be ok.

All the corals are moved to the frag tanks.

Lowering salinity to 1.020 tonight.

Tomorrow will be fish salinity lowered to 1.009, corals will be dipped and main system will be bleached, and the rock will be treated with acid then dried.

EDIT: reefman, I already consider my whole tank a total loss. What ever doesnt make it through this, well doesnt. I am not taking any chances of this happening EVER AGAIN.

Welp woke up to a morning of utter failure.

Had all the corals in a container with interceptor for the night, woke up to the heater stuck on and a bowl of 95 degree brown water. moved it all back to the frag tank, Ill find out what lived this afternoon I guess.
