where do you buy........

have you tried a pool store? I think all concrete places use CC to create heat during cold times to help it set BUT I dont think I would trust it in a fish tank as it could be toxic to it.

Pool store...Hardness plus, used it for 6 months now with no ill effects. People say there are risks with purity and additives, but everyone i've seen use the pool store stuff has never nuked there tank. JMO

Damp Rid (CC) and baking soda works fine for me. 10 TBS each daily for 3 years.

Hey can you guys educate me on this? How are you dosing and at what rates? The pool store stuff I mean.

I went the ice melt route for magnesium chloride, and let me tell you the stuff is dirty. From what I can tell the main difference betwen the BRS stuff and the ice melt type stuff is purity. Not worth it for the monetary savings because you never know what impurities are in in the bagged stuff. The BRS calcium chloride and magnesium chloride are nice and pure.

I would not try it Jeff. If you are looking to save $, then go in with someone and split a large quantitiy of the BRS stuff.

I have some of the de-icer that I made up this morning. I make a concentrated amount and then run it through coffee filters. It pulls most of the crud, but its still a bit hazy. When I run out, I'll order from BRS. Not worth the extra work and mess.

I have never tried them..but I think this what you are looking for:

I've purchased from them before. Didn't have any issues with the transaction.

Thanks Dave....exactly what I was thinking would be the issue. You get what you pay for. I'm happy with BRS so I may just stay with them.
