There aren't many; nearly all 400W bulbs are single ended. Marine Depot sells some:

Bottom of the page.

I'm not sure, because I never had a 400w de before. But I would think a 250w de fixture would hold a 400w bulb, just change out the ballast?
I think?

400w DE bulbs are bigger than 250w DE bulbs. Icecap sells a pendant where the bulb holder is movable that will accept both bulbs - that is the only one like that that I am aware of.

no no no go to aquabuys.com its the cheapest prices in town and sam is the man and very helpfull

Thanks guys.
I think these are the pendants that you have pointed out

Hamilton http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1495">http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1495</a> complete
Coralvue [IMG]http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=867">http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=867</a> good price and lookes good
IceCap [IMG]http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=12780&rel=1">http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=12780&rel=1</a>
Sunlight Supply [IMG]http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1139">http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1139</a> maybe the most reflective parabolic wise

It looks like aquacave has a a good selection on the 400 DE pendants. i would have never looked their.

Are 400w DE bulbs still considered relatively new? The last test I had read said something like 250w DE's PAR is on par with 400w DE's PAR... which made me think if you want to do 400w's, maybe single ended bulbs are the way to go... (no personal experience with either though.)

Not sure how new they are. Last time i look for that size MH they were not out but that was a few years ago.

I never heard that about the same PAR. If that Is true then theirs no point in the 400 watt DE.

I did read the the 250 w DE output is in the 350 W range. but i've never seen test on the 400W DE. I would assume it would be about the same percentage higher. but i probable should not assume.

Any info on this would be apperciated
