Looking to put a ato on my 120 im working on. Which one do u guys suggest. The jbj or the tunze? The jbj is cheaper but that not the most important thing to me. Does it work as well as the electric eye on the tunze?

I've personally used the JBJ ATO with dual float switches for over 2 years without a single failure. For the price...it's the best unit I've found.

+1..I've had mine for just over two with no failures what so ever, but the tunze is the Mac daddy for sure..

Thats kinda what i was wondering. Extra $100-150 for same thing. I can think of alot of other places i could use the $$ besides the ato haha

Check out autotopoff.com. I been using them for 7-8 years with no failures. Not as sexy as the others but it works very well.

Yeah it serves its purpose set it up never touch it again. Only fun for a few minutes lol ;p.

Really boils down to how many moving parts (float switch vs sensor) you want to be involved.

The sensor on the Tunze won't stick.

Agree!

But I've yet to have one stick and i keep it secure from snails and such. Remember sensors fail to. Worked for bmw for six years & lots of electronic sensors on those things and there's a reason bmw stands for Bring Money With u lol.

I bought a Tunze after reading everyone here that posted, say they have never had a failure.

I decided then, that is a pretty reliable sensor.

Fwiw- I've dealt with every type of sensor imaginable over 30 years. I too know they can all fail.

I had run autotopoff and aquahub, they're both are similar and very reliable, the only problem that I have recently were the sensors, I bought both ATO used, and sensors went bad, I had replace them and now the aquahub runs again every time it has to. Then I have tested the coralvue High Amperage Float Switch but wasn't aware before buying that this ATO won't control smaller pumps (normally used to replenish evaporated water). Another thing to mention on this ATO's is that they never recommend to sumerge the float switch, something that it normally happens any time I have to feed fish and coral, and the level in my sump will raise due to pump shut down. :(

Kinda the same with the jbj good results posted by users.

Sweet sounds like a fun job.

I have the one from avastmarine.com. No moving parts as it uses a pressure switch. It keeps my SG consitent in my bc29.

Mine from autotopoff.com double float switch failed on my 300 plus gallon set up and would have flooded if it wasn't from me having a 100 gallon sump.

Thanks for all the feed back. Think i will get the tunze :)

Edit: Dont think the wife could handle anymore flooded floors haha

Good choice! Your floors are worth waaaaaay more than the few $$ more the Tunze will set you back.
