At this point its pretty much a personal preference. I had an RKL... didnt like it and wanted to be able to control my tank via my iphone so I got the Apex.

I LOVE my Apex.

I think the only real differences right now are that the Apex is internet ready out of the box and is controllable over the internet, whereas the RKE requires a net module and isnt controllable over the internet... yet. Supposedly they are coming out with a program that will address that issue.

My Vote (if you havent guessed from my previous posts) is Apex.

PS... thats a great deal! Reefmonster actually saw that deal too, but couldnt get a hold of em. Like I told him, call up Premium aquatics, tell em about the price and all ... they will match it. Good guys.

I ordered it from Premium this morning no problems at all just gave them the URL, no questions asked and it is on the way, I was not happy with waiting 2 days for an answer from Something Fishy, Premium was Johnny on the spot with all my questions and very friendly.

You convinced me Apex. Now which one? DO I need ORP or not? which probes should I get? Apex lite I would have to buy the extra part to work it with ORP. So do I need the ORP? The link I listed is a deal it seems.

you'll need ORP if you're running O3 on your skimmer.. if not, it's just a waste of a probe location.

if you're going to run a calcium reactor, you can use the orp probe to run a 2nd ph probe in your reactor..

if not running a Ca reactor.. no need for the 2nd ph probe..

Agreed. The Lite version is the way to go unless you're going to be controlling Tunzes or need ORP.

Pretty much everything else can be done with the Lite and if you decide later on down the road to use O3 or Tunzes you'll be able to add the module.

So testing for ORP is not that important. or is it? Keep in mind I am new to this. I will only have softies in my tank. Frogspawn, mushrooms, few zoas etc. I do have 1 or 2 hard corals but that will be all. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah you wont need ORP.
