White fuzzy stuff under my rocks is this caused by bottled bacteria? That’s what I get from reef2reef on their website they just make fun of people

Hard to tell from the pictures but I had a similar looking white fuzz. A closer look I discovered they were hydroids. Search hydroids and look a little closer and see if that’s what it is. Over time they went away and never bothered anything. They probably were making fun of you because of your nice zoas and pristine sand that they were jealous of…

I have similar experiences to @davisg . White fuzzy stuff in my tank turned out to be a type of relatively harmless hydroid, and eventually disappeared.

I never posted about this on reef2reef but I read what they said when someone ask the question but thanks “Davisg”

Ya, I've sen this stuff in my tank too. I always assumed it was some sort of bacteria or something like that. Good to know it's a type of hydroid. I just check the spots in my display tank where I remember seeing it and there's nothing there. If I recall correctly, I had quite a bit of it at one point and started getting nervous about it but it appears to have resolved on it's own.

The top pic you usually find on the glass if you have hydroids on the rocks, the bottom pic is on rocks and have long legs. They group together and create the fuzzy film look in rocks. There are different type of hydroids though, this is just ones. Others are bad and can grow pretty big. I feel tank maturity and proper nutrient control wipes them out on their own.
