White spots on inside of glass

I know - quite a few IDs for me these days,
but that's because the tank is starting to LIVE.

I find these about 1/16" white blotches (non symmetrical shaped) looking like actual wall color drips on the inside of my tank.

I can scratch them off the glass with little pressure - under a magnifying glass they appear to have a yellow center (reminding me of over-easy eggs)...

And they become more and more.

What is it?

Limpets come to my mind maybe. I think limpet snails are not as small as u describe though it might be babies. There are many types of copepods, but on this thread

Spirorbis looks like ur description a little.

Spirorbis is there too,
but the blotches are more of a white paint drip - if they weren't that tiny I'd take a pic, but my digicam doesn't focus on them.

Do pods look like paint drips to anyone?
I see my pods and the spirorbis - but the paint drips are totally different.

Looks like a fried egg easy-over style

Close,

but much whiter and coraline.

(I'm about to throw my camera out of the window - can't take a pic)

First pic are the spots on my overflow.

Second are some Astrea, pods and the mysterious spots

Robb

PS: and no - they don't move or so super slow that I don't notice

They are probably those tube worms that begin as a white spot and then produce a white tube. I dont know the names of them, but I have them in my tank as well. They do look like drops of paint at first.

ANother attempt for pics,

this time on the live rock - those are not worms of any kind, but something with a coraline shell.

Any thoughts?

Robb

Still drivin me nuts,

it seems when they 'disappear' they live a coraline circle remain on the glass - but i still have no idea where they go or what they are or what they come from.

New pic attached

have you tried collecting some and housing it in the sump or something and see if it hatches? I can only think of it being some type of snail eggs. the only snails that lay eggs in my tank are the n.vibex snails. though I wish my other would start laying eggs too, save me money in a snail CUC.

They look like nerite snail eggs to me. I actually acclimated a few to freshwater for my planted tank a year or so ago because the eggs need salt water to hatch so they're the one FW 'safe' snail that wont take over a tank... but holy crap that tank looked like a sesame seed bun exploded.

SESAME SEEDS!
That is the very best description I have heard about my spots.

But what's strange is - I only have like 4 Nerites in my tank - they must be continuously laying eggs...
The white spots basically multiply over night

THANKS RUSSELL,

Robb

PS: BUMMER - they won't hatch though

Yes, I only had 5-6 in my FW and they coated everything... glass, rocks, plant leafs, and for that reason I refuse to have any in my reef tank! The little white patches from my ceriths are annoying enough but a quick swipe of the magfloat cures that. Wasnt that easy in the FW, the seeds from hell still left a ring behind.
