You don't think it's Ich? What else could it be? Lymphocystis?

How old is your tank?
What size is it?
Are those mandarins trained to eat prepared foods?
Where did you get them? Where did they get them?
What are your water parameters?
What is your temperature?
How did you acclimate the fish?
What else is in the tank? (Total setup, gear, livestock, inverts, LR, LS, etc.).

Typically, the slime coating protects/prevents ich in them, right? I have never seen an mandarin w/ ich. What other fish are in the tank and are any of them affected?

Ich-resistant doesn't mean ich-immune.

I had a mandarin that developed ich. I didn't understand proper treatment then, and it died (it was fat and ate pellets and pods, too).

Not saying it's ich for sure, but wow, it's super prevalent.

It looks like ich and no they are not immune. They can even have it in their gills and you will never see it. I would squirt some mysis or brine around it behind some rocks when feeding to keep it as fat as you can. May help fight it off. Good luck
