White spots on my Monti?

Does anyone know what or why this is happening? I have been adding reef complete calcium to up the level, currently reading390-400. The bottle also says it maintains magnesium also, maybe too much magnesium is killing he Monti? Any suggestions or ideas? All other parameters are within ideal levels.

Could also be a nudibranch that feeds on Montipora. Are any other corals affected?

Are you able to remove the coral to perform a medicated dip?

I doubt it's the supplement and MG is hard to overdose - do you know what your MG level is?

I dont know what the mg level is, but the nudibranch. Could it look like a snail with a soft shell, kinda white gray or sand colored? No other corals is within 2 1/2 " and it is another monti.

What you describe might have been a Stomatella snail - those are harmless.

The pic above is of a nudi.

Might want to try a disinfecting dip.

I have not seen anything like that on the Monti. What do you suggest for the dip, any brands better than the other, iodine or something else? Thanks a bunch Jenn, you are always really helpful.

From Jim at Seachem... treatment using Seachem Reef Dip.

Have to move fast on it and the colony does have to be pulled out to dip. (edit: do NOT try to treat this topically. Coral must be treated in a separate vessel, not the display tank).

We did 45 mins at 3 times the dose. I think it could even be taken to 1 hour at 3 times the dose. With that length of time its good to stir the dip solution in the container a few times every ten minutes or so.

Simple white patches start showing up. the white patches then begin to expand with a leading edge. Secondary infections can set it too. Fun stuff!! NOT

I was just at Seachem a little over a week ago and saw Jim's colony that had been infested. It's making a comeback, slowly - but what you described sounds very much like what I saw with his colony.
