I'm thinking of using the eheim compact+ 3000 for a return on my 65g. any thoughts?

From what I've read, they don't have as much flow, but use a bit less power and have adjustable output. They also cost a bit less.

I bought a 5000 for the return on my 120, but it's not up yet.

They appear to be great pumps based on spec's and reviews.

I especially like that it has 1 inch inlet & outlet.

I have the 5000 I bought as a back up to my sycce 5 on my 93. No complaints here. Small footprint, quiet, adjustable flow etc. Works for me.

I believe they don't carry much max head flow, so they may not be ideal for certain setups.

i'm going to hook up my ehiem that i just bought new seals for (2224, i think) to my 8 gal nano whatcha think

I use a 1260 Universal for my return and a compact 1000 for my carbon & GFO! Couldn't be happier with either pump.

+1
I also use the 1260 and 1000 compact a lot more quiet than my old mag 7

I just bought a sicce 3.0 Did alot of research on these. Good reviews. If you buy it from the right dealer they give a 5yr warrenty.

I used Ehiem on my fresh water for years, very happy. I have two 3000 pumps on my return for my 125 and am very happy with them, I have to clean the screen/sponge every couple of months to maintain flow but they are quiet and dependable.

Fwiw-
I still have the original Eheim pump I bought for my 55 gal tank 28 years ago. It still runs like new :)

You just can't beat that German engineering!

I love anything eheim, but I currently have a sicce 3.5. Really quiet and handles head pressure great. Not as much gph as some bigger pumps but better at 5-6' head. It's my return pump on my 93 corner.

you guys reckon the compast 3000 would be good for a 65g and a small manifold?

I think the pump would be fine with a tank of that size. However I'm not sure that it would be able to handle a hard plumbed setup with a manifold. That may end up being too much head pressure for the pump. If your set on the eheim compact series, maybe the 5000 would be a better option.

if that's the case, would the 1262 be a better pump?

Hey bud, could you pls define small manifold? I'm looking at a similar sized build. Thanks.

i believe my return is 3/4" so plumbing will be that. as of now i will only have 1 reactor plumbed but have access for 2-3 accessories (another reactor or UV), 1 outlet to allow for easier water changes, and possible opened to a refug in my sump.

similar to this teed off from the return pipe but have the end return to the sump

or this on a simplified, smaller scale
