I'm about to find out. I don't know if anyone else has ever tried the http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=2604">Dwarf Yellow-Tip (equal-handed) Hermit Crabs</a>, but they're available from Live Aquaria. They also may be available locally, but I've not seen them.

These are $1.29/each with discounts for larger quantities. I'm getting a dozen, which reduces the price to $1.19/each.

Supposedly, these guys are vegetarians and eat the bad algae in the tank. Don't know if that's true, but it's not a huge investment to find out. If you don't have sufficient algae, they'll need some nori from time to time.

If anyone else wants to try these guys, add your request to the

Errr they say pretty much the same thing about every dwarf hermit on LA :).

Yep ... saw that, but thought I'd give a new one a try. Probably just a red-leg with a new paint job, but I need a few hermies anyway. Something in Loren's tank has feasted on most of his.

:)

scarlets eat cyano. i'd be careful... like you mentioned in one of your other posts, all crabs are really opportunistic carnivores.
