I bought a turn-key 24 nano from a guy that has sugar sized sand that I HATE and want to suck it out and add a bag of live aroganite. You think it will cause a cycle? The tank is running great and dont want to disrupt it too bad.Any thoughts?

I was wondering this same question. I want to move my current 14g to a 29g, but want to use new sand in the DT and the old sand in my refug. Thanks for the suggestion Big D, I think I will do it this way.

I was thinking if it is actually "LIVE" and teaming with bacteria it would be ok.If there was anything in the bag that could decay I would think the "LIVE" sand would break it down.Just My thinking,i could be wrong.I`m gonna try it and see what happens.Hey BigD did You sell Your calcium reaccotr yet?I pm`d You wonderring what You wanted for just the reactor alone.

i would only add about a 1/4 inch at a time or you might get a small spike ...what your doing when yuo add another layer is keeping it from doing its nitrogen cycle thing
