A few weeks ago I posted about a slight aptasia problem I was having at the time. After a couple of squirts of Joe's Juice. and a few shrimp they are all gone except one small one in my overflow. I can't reach it without long tongs that I don't have. I spoke to the guy that installed my system and he stated that a lot of the overflow parts are glued in an effort to prevent it from coming off due to high pressure (so taking it apart is not an option).
Since these things need nutrients from the water and light to grow, I placed a piece of aluminium foil under my compact lights directly above the overflow. I'm thinking this should deprive the aptasia of light which should stop it from processing food properly and eventually die.
What do you think?
Also a slight concern is the fact that compact lights get so hot, instead of the light going through glass and into the tank, the light will strike the foil (heat it up) and I will eventually burn or at least fade the plastic under the lights.
The light size are 65 watts 10k.
