A few weeks ago I posted about a slight aptasia problem I was having at the time. After a couple of squirts of Joe's Juice. and a few shrimp they are all gone except one small one in my overflow. I can't reach it without long tongs that I don't have. I spoke to the guy that installed my system and he stated that a lot of the overflow parts are glued in an effort to prevent it from coming off due to high pressure (so taking it apart is not an option).

Since these things need nutrients from the water and light to grow, I placed a piece of aluminium foil under my compact lights directly above the overflow. I'm thinking this should deprive the aptasia of light which should stop it from processing food properly and eventually die.

What do you think?

Also a slight concern is the fact that compact lights get so hot, instead of the light going through glass and into the tank, the light will strike the foil (heat it up) and I will eventually burn or at least fade the plastic under the lights.

The light size are 65 watts 10k.

There is one shrimp in there but not by my choice. He fell into the overflow a couple of days ago and kinda just stays in the corner due to the strong current.

I think he's doing little to no good for anyone right now (lol).

Then turn off the circulation pump and shoot it with a little of Dave's napalm in a turkey baster or something...... You'll have plenty of flow to dilute the napalm before it re-entered your display.....

You could always just leave it. With the peppermints in the display, they will keep the population down.

Aiptasia also can move towards available light... so you could leave a small gap in one corner, and you may find that it moves up there so you can get at it to nuke it.
