Will this tank work for a reef?

I have recently purchased a 150 gallon tank (60wx38hx30d). The previous owner just had fish setup in the tank but I am a bigger fan of reef tanks.

It is about twice as tall as my current tank and I just want to make sure that it wont cause problems.

Any thoughts?

you will most likely need metal halides for the aquarium since it is so tall.

that would be a good reef tank, i wouldnt reccommend having sps, its just to deep - unless you want to spend a fortune to get sufficient lights.

Did they run any medications in the tank when it was set up before?

man that does not sound good at all. first you are going to need to decon the tank and that takes 3 - 4 weeks, then you are going to need to clean it from the decon chemicals and thats another 4 weeks.

then you have to make a stand and get lights and equipment for it. it all sounds like such an uncessary hassle.

just give it to me so you won't have to be burden with the tank
