I've got some trim around my fireplace that I am trying to find locally so I can put it on my tank stand I'm building. If anyone can ID this and maybe tell me where I can find it locally I'd appreciate it! It is 2 7/8" wide

I've checked my local Home Depot with no luck

Thanks

It looks like some kind of mullion molding. Not 100% sure since I can see it from more than the one angle. The problem with moldings other than the standard casings and crowns .... they come and go by maker. They may run it for a few years then drop it like a hot potatoe if demand falls. Grouper Therapy may be able to help you find it.

Thanks Dustin! I know there are a lot of houses in my neighborhood that have it. They were built in 1998 so it might have been a fad then.

I am wanting to use it to hide the trim on my tank.

I'll give them a call as well

Like this or thinner.

That is actually called mantle breast molding. Randall Brothers has something similar called a Normandy breast mold. I have seen that profile before but can't remember where. You may try Bush mill works, Robert Bowden, Cox interiors, Pierce and Pierce Mill work.
If they are still in business! Sadly most of the specialty mill work have been shutdown.

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't need much, maybe 12 feet, and would like to be able to find the same molding to match. I have a living room with the fireplace and the mantle breast molding (thanks Grouper Therapy) and in the adjacent room I have a formal living room where I was planning on having the reef tank.

I'll call Randall Bros in the morning and report back with my findings

Chris

It is very similar but is quite a bit thinner on the edges.

Go to the chair rail section and check it out first

Give me a shout. It's a fairly common profle. It's not something we stock but we have a knife to run it. RB phone# 404-879-6021

I'll flip through one of my randall Brothers catalogs tonight... if it's in your home and original to the house, it's very possible that you wont be able to match it (probably 1/4 of the "building supply" companies in Ga have gone out of business in the last 3 years.)

jcook54 is looking into it for me (Randall Bros). I am hoping he finds something. They can definitely make it I'm just not wanting to pay the setup fee if they don't have it in stock. I don't need much of it and I'm not 100% sold on it. If they don't have it in stock hopefully I can find it elsewhere locally. If not, I'll go with another look

Thanks again J Cook!!
