I've got a 75g with 29g sump, and I'm planning on plumbing in a 40g or so frag tank sooner or later. I've got a Kent Nautilus TE skimmer driven by a mag7. With the May power buy I'm eying an Octopus Extreme 200. The Kent seems to skim well enough, pulls about an inch a day wet fairly dark and wet. I'm going to need a pump to run a chiller I'll be getting in a couple of weeks and figure if I swap to the octopus I can re-purpose the mag 7 for the chiller and get a few bucks out of the skimmer body itself... Otherwise I spring for another pump at the very least.
Would the octopus skim noticeably better than the kent to justify the extra $200 over just buying a new pump for the chiller?
