About 2 weeks ago I added a beautiful flasher to the display tank. Here are some pics. Anyone know the species.

Thanks,
Tim

I can tell you what it is after we put it in my tank to get a closer look. =)

It's a fairy of some type, not a flasher. SUPER NICE!!!

That was a typo I was in a hurry. :) I meant fairy. Maybe it is a hybrid.

Thanks,
Tim

I see he is finally out wandering about. Reclusive when I was there a little over a week ago. He is beautiful fish

Tim, it appears to be a Pyles Fairy Wrasse</em>

That could very well be the case. It could also be that the pic I posted is a supermale flashing and the other pics above are just normal male coloration.

I thought pyles too, but that black blotch on the dorsal is throwing me off. I need to find my Tanaka Wrasse book.

What its been published already? I just did a search for it a few days ago without success.

Ah crap, I said Tanaka, and meant Kuiter. It was just a test, you passed. The more I look at the pic, the more Im sure its a female pyles. Not because it so much looks like it, but instead because it deosnt look like anything else. So much balck on the dorsal and tail.

Yay I passed! :)

I think you're right... its definitely one of the prettier female fairies. I saw it last saturday and tried to convince tim to bag it up for me.
