hi

is it true that xeina can lower nitrates or is it just a rumour.

Are you sure? I don't think my tank has ever tested at over 10 ppm Nitrates.

Mine runs betwen 15-20ppm and runs more toward the higher side. The xenia and all my softies grow quite well within that water parameter.

I think they'll grow fine in less too... Prolly better with more though. Mine seem to grow pretty well and my nitrates are always under 5.

Xenia will grow in about any situation, just give then time to adjust. They might not flourish like weeds but will do well! They are some of my favorite softies. Beautiful to watch and my clowns love them!

I use them as a tank nitrate indicator... When the population explodes, I know I have a nitrate problem! They do fine at a wide variety of nitrate levels, but really go wild at higher ones.

My nitrate is always 0, my xenia are doing well, but hardly reproduce. I got 4 stalks from Kayla in early May, now 3 months have passed and I have 6 stalks.
