It all depends on your setup. I keep my mp40 in wave mode 1. That is because I also have two other mp25s. One 25 is blowing behind the rocks in else mode and is on during the day time. The other 25 is pointing right at my sps in the opposite direction of the other 25. This 25 is on a timer that turns on for about 20 seconds and off for about a minute. This pump is on for about 7 hours a day.
