Please see pictures. There is a yellow substance growing at the base of my zoas. It seems to be growing slowly, but nevertheless it is grown and seems to have taken over these. What is it and what do i do.
Thanks

My parameters are all good, with exception of caclium and alk which is at the lower threshold. Temp is at 80

yea seems like a yellow sponge to me. its harmless but if you see it taking over your zoas you can just pull it off of them should be very soft and pretty loosly attached.

I have a bunch of the yellow sponges. They are harmless.

Sponge. I have a couple zoa frags that look just like that. once it gets out of hand, it is super easy to pull off.

Be careful removing sponges though. Many have very fine quills that will stick into your skin and can be very irritating.

Do not underestimate the yellow sponge. It can take over and smother out your zoas. Anyone think a peroxide dip might kill the sponge?

+1 That's what I was thinking, just let it sit out for a few minutes. It would probably come off with some tweezers fairly easy too.
