Hey guys i am having some issues nothing else in my tank is having problems, but a few zoa colonys are having die off, it started with two exact zoa colonys on oppisite sides of my 125 both started dieing off. Now i got some green zoas look like they shrivel up a bit but still open for a few days then die... My water quality has been lookin good tho. Thoughts? I do a ten gallon water change a week on my tank. I have had these green zoas 3 years and this has never happend.

I had 2 different types of zoanthids on the same piece of rock. One kind died off and the other is fine ::shrugs::

If everything else is doing well and your water parameters are good, I would suggest that something in there is bothering them. Any fish, crabs, etc. that could potentially be picking at them?

Just 3 tangs regal, sailfin, yellow. One false perc, bar goby, mandarin. blue leg hermits. I have asternia stars by the thousand but they only get on em once they are dead.......

Sure?
I have personally see Asterina decimate my zoas...

Zoa pox, sundial snails or zoa eating nudibranchs.

Those would be my top 3 suspects.

so should i do a dip incase of zoa pox? i will get my parmas soon as i can get a new reading away from home for now. I am pretty sure i dont have nudis or sundial snails i have not added anything new to tank for months and i keep a close eye on my tank.

im pretty positive.... I dont ever see em on them till they are dead not sick. And i have had both zoas and stars for years first time this has happend.

If they are the blueish / gray astrena (sp?) starfish they will kill zoas as they move across the base of the polyps. Seen it many times in my own tank with my own eyes... :)

NO Friggin way. Ive lost i HUGE zoa rock and had no idea why. Ive sat and sat looking for "critters" and nothing! But yes i do have asterina stars in my tank. :( Thats crazy if i lost a beautiful coral over some little white star fish:(:(

I've seen it too... and all of the evidence that one's eyes could provide say that they killed areas of GSP also. Yes, I realize this isn't true proof, but that's all I can say. :)
