Zoas melting, fungal growth, or healing?

The photos show a wild-Indo zoa colony 72 hours apart. One source is telling me this is basal mat reconstruction, and to not interfere in the slightest. I’m concerned it’s not though, and that it may be tissue decay, or fungal growth. Any pointers on how to tell, and or what to do to help save it? Any help is greatly appreciated; I really don’t want to lose them.

It should be noted that other zoas are in the tank and very happy.

SG is 1.026
Temp is 77°F
Nitrates: ~7ppm

I temporarily reduced lighting slightly to help avoid oxidative stress

Zoas were acclimated Wednesday night

Try this dip on them:

2 cups water, 4 drops lugol’s, 1 scoop of chemiclean in a small container with an airline in it for a bit of circulation. Let them sit for ~20 minutes in it then rinse and put back in the tank. Do it a few times spaced out by a few days between each. @shanepike told me about it and it has helped bring back zoas that randomly weren’t doing well while others around them were.
