I got a nice green zoas frag at the Feb. frag meeting and it took awhile but that sucker is really starting to grow now! As a matter of fact it is starting to edge of the smell mounting piece it was on! What do I do now? Do I move it closer towards some live rock or place it on live rock so that it can branch off? I kinda hate to disturb it since it really seems to be doing so well, what advice from the more experienced coral owners!!!

Thx!!!

Be careful where you let it grow... if its growning as well as youre saying it could spread TOO fast and take over a VERY large area. Just keep that in mind if you dont want an entire tank full of green zoas :)

just move the zoas next to a live rock and they will just grow onto it...that is what I would do. Or you can frag it zoas are easy to frag just wear gloves and glasses get a razor slice some zoas of from the base or cut of a small portion of the rock under the zoas and then glue them somewhere else.

This is a good article on how to frag zoas. I'll be giving it a whirl this weekend. Not sure if I should wear my eye protection that I use in my 'shop' or if I really need a face shield.

It may just be me but I think it would be pretty cool to have an entire tank FULL of those.

I would put sea shells next to them that are about the size of a quarter. They will grow onto the shell and you can frag them off or prune them back by simply removing a shell.

Hey, that makes good sense and I got a few shells in the live sand, I'll give it a try. Thanks to all for the responses!
