1/2 in. of sand in tank

Yeah I am going to start mixing up some some saltwater today. I just drained all the FW out of the tank today since all my plumbing is good. I only have 25g of ro/di made up so it's time to start making more!

Is it really that big a deal to add the water after the sand if the sw is pre-mixed and ready for the tank?

I guess that really just depends on the size of the tank and how much water storage space you have. There are many instances where you cannot add SW to the tank during initial fill. If you have the ability, then by all means add SW to a tank with sand. Just be sure to never add FW to a sandbed then add SW later...

Yeah I understand that. Well I just started to re-fill the tank with rodi water today. I will mix it up when its full, add powerheads and heaters and then ounce its at the right temp and all reading are good I will add sand and go buy some live rock after a few days.
