So I am now two weeks into this project and decided to put some pictures up to prove it, lol.

Initially the tank started off on the breakfast bar/ledge of the kitchen and it only had T5's on it so light wasnt an issue. However, I picked up a Viper K-2 Deluxe 150w clamp on and suddenly, my fiance was not happy about the spill-over of light:

So that needed to change, as well as the LR placement since I originally set it up to be equally enjoyable from both sides of the tank:

So, I searched on craigs and found an oak-look stand for $20, but it was over in Buford :yuk: Keep in mind I live in Woodstock, lol. But I really didnt care because the gas in my car is paid for by my work

Picked it up and about $17 worth of hardware and stuff from Home Depot to fix it to my liking.

First thing was to attach a 1/2" x 3.5" board of wood to the rear of the stand. One thing that i learned from the Design of this Viper Deluxe clamp on light was that it didnt like clamping onto the thin glass wall of my 10 gallon tank, and it was also too high to adjust the neck like I wanted it. So:

Problem Solved :)

Second thing was the giant ballast that comes with this light, so I picked up some garage utility hooks and attached them about halfway up inside the stand to set the ballast on:

Dont mind the wires, lol, I needed multiple timers for the fan and lights.

I rearranged the LR to better suit this setup as well:

Got some frags of frogspawn, hammer, and a little chalice piece as well when i picked up the MH light, so that was nice :)

Initially I had a penguin 100 HoB filter with the Bio-Wheel but holy crap that thing was loud, the impeller must have been broken or just retarded because it made tons of noise, lol. So I swapped it out for an Aquaclear 30 and I am very very happy with this filter so far. I would also like to throw on a HoB skimmer at some point maybe, idk.

Also ended up with a small damsel (pictured above) because my fiance thought it was "pretty", haha.

But here's the Final Product:

BIG thanks to Jenn @ Imagine Ocean for helping me out with all my questions and supplying me with rock, sand and water for this.

Now I just need more random donations of frags to make it more interesting! lol :D

And just for fun, a little video:

Stupid light timers got me at the end, haha.

Anyone think that one of the nano-skimmers would be a good purchase for a small setup like this? I was thinking something like this:

Unless someone on here has a used one they want to sell me :)

added some livestock.

Looking good so far. I wouldn't put a skimmer on the top of my list. I use the Reef Octopus nano skimmer and water changes as my only bio-load reduction, but so long as you keep up the filter and have a good water change cycle you should be just fine.

Week 4 Update:
Some new corals- 4 colors of zoas, 2 candy corals, and a ORA green birdsnest
And a porcelain crab that is pretty good at hiding, lol.

I am also about to start a 10 gallon nano, and I was wondering if you thought about putting a nano UV? If so, what kind?

Thought I'd post an updated stock list for my own sanity, and will follow with pics/video tonight.

Looks great!

Tank looks very clean!

Edit: Wish I could take pics as nice

Thanks! Yea I will definitely post some updated FTS shots here soon, I really need a better camera for the macro shots of my corals as they progress. Santa must have dropped it off the sleigh this year...

Don't feel bad. That little fat bugger broke in to my house again this year and as always all he left me was a bunch of credit card reciepts. I wish they would catch the little fat ............

lol, well I had to breakdown and buy an engagement ring last week as a present, so that hurt a little. My parents still have to get me a gift too, i'm gonna push that camera! lol

The engagement ring is the cheapest part of that relationship. LOL. Start saving now. I have three kids and I am about to pay for my 5th set of braces. Explain that one to me!!!! LOL. But having said that....Congratulations!

Thanks! She was pretty excited about it, me too I suppose, lol. Could have bought the top of the line everything reef setup if I hadn't spent it on that ring haha.

Tank is looking great. At first, I didn't like cubes but now I am starting to like them more and more. :-) That is going to be a nice looking tank. :-)

Thanks! It's really not a cube by any means though, its 20wide x 15tall x 10deep. I cant wait to move out of the apartment so I can get my perfect tank: 60 cube
