$100 and One Coral

I went to PR and wasn't that impressed actually. I think I was expecting too much.

If you decide on that send me a pm.

As a follow up to my last post I would NOT recommend the "Non Indo" Acan Lords that you see on some of these sites if you are an impatient person. They look nice but they are very slow growers. I have some that I have had for a few months that have not put out any new polyps or grown much. The reading that I have done on these indicates that some of these will maybe put out a polyp a year. On the other hand Micros grow pretty fast.
Let ya know...I don't expect it to look like that in my tank..They keep their's under 20K lighting....and the pictures are taken as such. But I use 14K lights so it should look close.

I keep 2 x 10k MH, 2 x 36w Giesman True Actinic, 4 x 10k 22w T5, 12 x 3w Blue LEDs. Lots of things in my tank are starting to switch a more vibrant color including a wicked blue/purple Acro. I doubt it is as maxed out as the lighting in those pictures though.

I am going to install another 18 5w LEDs soon including 9 in the purple spectrum and 9 in the blue. This should help bring out the colors.

Sounds nice Cameron. Pictures always look better. I keep my Lords / Micros under a 20K XM with added actinics and they never look as good as they do on the internet sites. I am sure they take a lot of pics and then post the most flattering ones.

I have probably two corals that are colored as good as some on the internet. One is a yellow cup coral, but that one is easy and the other is a acro of some sort... not sure exactly but he is going into that beautiful blue/purple area. When I got everything it was all some shade of brown. With the new lighting I have several that are turning bright green and a couple really nice purples. I keep thinking if I blast enough spectral light into the tank I will get good growth and some super coloring.

Course the pretiest thing in the tank are those zoos I got last week off of a fellow member. Those things really pop.

Here are a couple pics I just shot on my $100 camera:
