Hello ARC! I’ve always wanted a Biocube for its original AIO design. So recently came across a 14g w/ LED hood and set it up over the holidays.

The goal of this tank will be simplicity…
- All “stock” Biocube setup. I’m going to keep the LED hood, stock pump, etc. + a heater in the back
- I’ve removed the media basket and not planning to run any filter floss / bagged media
- I’ve added a Tunze DOC 9001 skimmer (in the media chamber) to run initially but may pull out long term
- not planning to add any extra flow / power heads in tank
- not planning to test water parameters or dose significantly.
- running an old APEX for “simplicity”, only using the temp probe and central control for plugs.

Initial setup with dry powder fine sand, 3 seasoned pieces of live rock with mix of soft corals (plus few LPS and SPS fragments) from an existing tank, and water from a water change. Added some snails and hermits and the tank was running day 1.

Tank has been running about 5 days. Plans for this tank will be primarily soft corals, macro algae and limited inhabitants to create a balanced environment and limit water changes.

Top off water is manual and will add an ATO. But the integrated hood really keeps evaporation down.
