Bought it at a steal from craigslist. I didn't think I was ready to go for a full size tank just yet, but this deal was also too good to pass up.

I haven't been in the game in some time, and I really started to miss it, so I'm starting here, and we'll see where it goes.

Not much so far, but 2 fish and I just added a cleaner shrimp to add some variety.

The tank came with everything you see except the cleaner shrimp, so I have some personalisation to go yet, but I figure one step at a time.

picture uploaded upside down...but you get the idea

Cool, I'm interested to see where it goes. I just got a bc14 today, but I'm starting new from scratch. Also interested to know what kind of upgrades it has seeing as all I have is the "base model". Good luck with it all, keep the photos coming.

How do you keep the water from running out with it upside down????? LOL Looking good. Off to a good start.

upgrades were the filter setup was replaced with a 3 tier trickle instead of the bioball setup?

The return flow was put on a rotating powerhead.

I added 2 more powerheads on timers to change the flow up a few times a day.

The biggest issue I'm fighting right now is phosphates. Well, I assume phosphates (test kit comes in monday) as I have a slime algae problem, but it's controllable. Once I get that under control I'll work on putting more in the tank other than flake fed fish :)

Edit: Money has been super tight, so additions are real slow, but I love how easy this tank is. I just buy 2 gallons of distilled water a week. Mix 1.5 with salt for w/c, use the other half for top off throughout the week...I'll probably put some no-no's in it once it's stable and I'm feeding more than flake (maybe a mini blue tang?).

I ran a 14g BC for a few years and I understand wanting a larger fish, but if you try to keep a blue tang you really will have problems with algea due to high nitrates. Tangs need larger systems because they are active swimmers. Even as Juvis.

There are a lot of smaller colorful nano fish out there. Take a look at some of the different gobbles(clown and sand sifting), filefish, and other smaller fish.

sorry for the crap pictures, but here's an update.

I finally won the war against the hair algae.

I added a tiny foxface that has been doing well. I know its a small tank for him, but I do what I can to keep him healthy and he's smaller than my clownfish and damsel, so it'll be a bit before I'm worried about him outgrowing.

I need more rockwork to build it up, but I don't want to risk buying any from the lfs, so I'll wait and pick some up second hand when the time is right.

Pictures still suck, but...
