I just installed a 150w Phoenix bulb over my nano. However, it's extremely white. My stock 14kk was much bluer. I was really expecting a nice blue/purple look from the Phoenix. Is this normal for this bulb and will it blue up or do I have a bad one?

Thanks

Does not sound right to me, I found the 14k Pheonix to be blue - very nice color. I actually replaced with a 20k that was not as nice blue as the Pheonix....

My Phoenix 14 was not blue...definately more white...and it was just purchased...I thought it would be bluer also

That is what I was thinking..... The ballast has an effect on the color. You guys know more than I so let me watch and listen.

How white? I have the same current 150 W, and replaced the stock POS bulb with a pheonix and was quite pleased with the blueness.

That might work!

the stock pos was waaaaaay bluer. It's obvious the Phoenix is a superior bulb, as the corals were pleased for the few hours it was on.

actually i found my 14K phoenix bulbs just as blue if not more than then radium 20ks i ran. Also, there about half the price....

they were both ran on the same exact lighting system. In fact i ran one phoenix 14k with a radium at one point and i couldnt really tell a difference but apparently im the only one that has said this.

Not to hijack.....but does anyone know anything about bluelife SPS halide bulbs?.....I just ordered one and was just wondering if I should have gotten the Phoenix now....running off a 250w Icecap ballast....(thanks Robb!)....it's also a 14k so that's why I ask....

Hmmmmmm...mine is just as blue as my Reeflux 20KK 400W. Maybe Im just cracked. Or color blind. Or both.

I've said this before, but I wonder if phoenix has made some changes on there bulbs. I know My older ones used to burn bluer on the same ballast. The ones I ordered a few months ago seem a lot whiter

Well, picked up a new one from Tim today (got lucky he was there, forgot he had "off" days now) and this new one is definitely whiter. It's brighter, but whiter, not a bad thing, still pleasing in my eyes. All I care about is the par, so as long as it's still putting down good numbers, that's what counts. There are some corals that look more vibrant under it, not sure how that is, but again, not a bad thing.

I would purchase it again.
