2 gal pico setup

I found a 2.2 gal rimless tank at a LFS for 10 bucks cause it leaked. Sealed it back up and have been running it for a month now, got my light fixture for it, a Wave Point micro sun white/blue clamp on. I'm really impressed with the light for being under $40. Filter is a little nano HOB but bioload will be only Coral and a invert or something small. I also have a Reo 600, which is way too big I think but I had it sitting around. Because the tank is so small I'm going to try and keep only a few very bright corals in here. I have some nice LPS nad a few montis. I will probably frag my larger tentacled frogspawn as well. I'm looking forward to making it a tiny showpiece!

Are you going to manually top off every day? I've never tried a small tank because of that fact.

You know with mine, I actually scoop a cup of water out and switch it with a cup from the main tank every night. Seems to work okay. I had a giant hermit crab in the little tank, but eventually he died, so it's only got a few frags in it right now, not much to worry about waste wise.

I will be doing daily top off, but I like your water change idea! I do daily top of on my 200g system so dropping in a little water in this tank isn't really an added chore.

thats a cool tank i have a 1 gallon pico that i started 3-4 months ago and im thinking of upgrading the light so i may have to steal this idea heres a link to the thread if you wanna check it out and steal some ideas

So I knocked an empty bookcase over yesterday and it fell right on my tank. Somehow it only made a mess and the tank didn't break even falling 3 feet full of water (I suspect the water spilled on the way down and made a cushion). I will be setting it back up this week and starting over. Thankfully all the coral seems fine back in my main display. I was building a shed in my living room and one of the walls fell before i braced it, which hit the bookcase and then the tank stand. At least now I have a place to put my kayak and tools (and most of a 1986 honda shadow parts bike)

It is still up and running. Sexy shrimp is doing great in there with a toadstool and a frogspawn. I think I need to invest in better lights for it though and it's not right in the budget for a few weeks. SPS wasn't doing well at all so I moved it back to main display. Here is my basic maintenance, which I'd love to get feedback on from experienced nano guys, cause I know I'm cutting a few corners. I might just make it a softies/mushroom tank though, and start investing in fancy low light corals instead.

Daily I top off water with RODI and weekly I check salinity. It is at 1.024

Weekly I take 3 cups of water and dump it, and take 3 cups of water from my main system and add it. This gives some dirt for the shrimp and keeps me lazy from mixing special water for it.

Weekly I also clean out the sponges from the filter and monthly I replace the carbon.
