2 Part dosing what people use???

I have a quick question. I just setup my dosers yesterday and still trying to work out how much Calcium/Alk I need to put in per day.

My tank is 340 Gallons, predominately SPS.

I am guessing 60ml per day of each.

Is that about right? even if its just for the start.

Use the instructions n BRS web site. I always say to start low, and keep testing, if you are losing alk and calcium, then add more. You should have a handle on it in aboe two weeks. Its a crappy two weeks, but it is safer.

Unfortunately only your tank can tell you that....and that will happen with daily testing till things seem to level out. The directions on a bottle will get you so far, but if you have lots of SPS or no SPS, those figures will drastically change. Get a reliable test kit and check every day, or every two days at the same time to see the changes.

Check their site for the calculator like Rosato said. That seems low, I was dosing about that much with only about 220 total gallons.

William, if you do the BRS two part you definitely want to use a dosing pump at least for the alk, otherwise it is difficult to do it manually without swinging yoiur PH. I don't mind manually dosing calcium since I don't need to dose very much, especially since I've switched to Seachem Reef Salt.

I screwed up and bought the wrong dosing pumps for what I need and have stopped dosing until I get the right ones. If you get a pump make sure it runs at about 1 ml per minute not the 50 ml per minute ones.
