2 tangs in a 100 gallon tank

Lol yes I guess so but we all know a lot of "common knowledge" in this hobby isn't exactly set in stone. If something works for you it won't necessarily work for me and almost all rules of thumb are bs. These three went in as juveniles and have had no problems for over a year. No major ick problems no aggression. So it can be done but I have known for a while an upgrade was going to be necessary soon

True very true! That is a how a lot of myths evolve into "written in stone" facts. You get enough people believing and repeating the myth until it has to be true.

this made me lol.

The ARC - disproving the norm since 2001.. or something like that.

in my 120 I have 2 tangs, a 4 inch scopas and a 4 inch something that resembles a kole but has no yellow ring around the eye and has purple lips... anyway, when I first put them int he tank together there was alot of bickering, but they get along now following each other around often. The scopas seems to let the other one find the food and then helps himself to it. As they get bigger I'll have to get a bigger tank for the scopas... oh darn

I had a hippo tang and yellow tang that lived together their entire lives and never had a fight or even the hint of one. In fact, they kind of 'hung out' and swam around the tank together.

They should. The yellow is from the genus Zebrasoma, the regal is Paracanthurus.

Mixing two of same genus together, different situation. Not a guranteed fight by any means, but in general tangs don't tolerate another of their kind, and often don't tolerate a similar one (similar being shape or genus).

And for amnesty's sake:
