20 Long - New Begining

I feel like this tank has finely come into its own, found its groove and I am able to read its needs and full fill them. Praise God!

I am grateful to God for this tank doing well and the enjoyment it brings me. I am very happy with the extention, color and growth of things. Love the movement and how relaxing it is to care for. Very ease of care tank.
Here is a blue plateing sponge frag given to me recently by a friend. It is trying to plate already. ;)

Here is my right island.

My Valley

Left Island

My springers damsel. Love its color!

My chalice frag?

My pagoda frag

I have always feed mostly dry foods like pellets and reef roids but I had to switch recently for a fish I have to all frozen. Even though I rinse well and feed fairly sparingly, I still had a small diatom out break from feeding different kinds and amounts of food until my bacteria load could compinsate. I still am having to scrape the glass about once a week and I was not having to at all before the switch. So just a testament as to how changes effect the biology of our tanks and thier balance.

I pray everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving, will have a great Christmas and that your tanks may be thriving, colorful and fluffy in the new year! Blessings and Happy Reefing!

Beautifu! So beautiful I’ve decided to set one up myself :)
I’ve been in the hobby for many years but had to shut down in March due to medical issues. One of my absolute favorite pieces EVER was the blue sponge!
If you ever if it if you ever have an opportunity to sell if rag in the future, please remember me. Thanks,
Deb

Thank you so very much! And go for it! You won't regret it! I get it when things get busy or unforeseen medical things come up...its hard to keep tanks going. but the way I do things is very simple and takes very little time and effort. So, works for my very intense, busy and unpredictable life. :)

The blue sponge frags are attached, plateing already and growing quickly. I will keep you in mind!

Blessings and Happy Reefing!

@Mom2Many It never ceases to amaze me how well you do with this size tank. Post the just the pics anywhere on the net and most people would think it's a 55 gallon if not bigger.

What a beautiful tank a great placement. How often do you have to trim things to keep the spacing?

Thank you very much for your kind words of encouragment. I am humbled. I do have many people on my youtube channel that think it is a 55. I always try to put nano or 20 long in the title so as not to decieve people. :)

In my old set up I was trimming, cutting, fragging, using Joes juice and such every few weeks to keep things from fighting, stining and encroaching on each other. I am so much happier with the changes I made, when I moved things over into this set up. I am not battling mushrooms, zoas and palys like I was and not having so many huge colonies of stonys stinging each other. In this current set up I have not had to trim anything yet. Just turn or move a few things. I promised myself I would not over crowd this tank and already have packed it fuller than I ever wanted. (so much candy I want to put in there!) I am hoping everything will just grow slow and get a long! Heres for hoping anyways!

Thank you again for such kind words! Blessings and Happy Reefing!

You're more than welcome. The pictures speak for themselves! Your tanks are your bonsai. Small, balanced and perfect looking.

I know you don't want to do a larger tank but I can't help but wonder what you could do with a 4' long tank like a 120. I'm sure it would be even more the envy for everyone that saw it just like your 20L.

Thank you again. You are to kind. Its not that I have not thought about going to a larger tank over the years, I have at times...I have even been offered a few larger setups as people I knew were either upsizing or getting rid of tanks and such...but I know that I have to stick to a very strict budget with this hobby, dont have any extra room in my home and also have a time issue with how much time I can devote to this hobby. I have 11 children, nine children still living at home, all special needs (adopted), I homeschool, live on a small gentlemans farm with dairy goats, chickens, vegatable gardens and up keep of fields and normal laundry and house keeping...nanos just work best for my life as far as demands of time, space and money. :) Maybe when I get very old and have more time????....I have two friends right now getting into seahorses....I have had to fight the urge to set up another smallish tank to get some too but am being firm in my decission to only have my 20 long...I had up to 13 fresh/planted and reef nanos at one time over a year ago. I am a reformed nano addict and am not going back! :) One of each and that is all I need to care for! But I guess it does not hurt to dream and plan for someday!

Thank you again for you kind words. Blessings!

Man does that look good. Keep it up, I know you will. I use you as an example over and over again when folks think bigger (and more $$$) is what makes all the difference. You've got experience, patience you do your research - it shows well in your systems. It's a BIG reef in a small tank.

Very humbling! Thank you so much. So very kind...you and this community have always been so helpful and encouraging! Thank you!

I know this is going to come as a complete shock to most people that know me but...I am getting out of reefing. I have been in and out of reefing and salt water for over 16 years. I love this hobby and it is full of wonderful people that, many, have become good friends to me. I will not be taking down my Youtube channel but leave it up and functioning as a referance for people that want to do a simple nano reef.

There are many reasons I have for me to leave at this time and have been thinking of doing this for a while. Several of you know that my husband and I take in and adopt medically fragile and special needs children. We have 11 children with 9 still living at home. With this commitment comes many doctors appointments, therapy sessions and hospital stays. My husband also has some significant health issues. His biggest issues is Addisons. He had an adrenal crisis in October last year that he is still recovering from. My 25 year old son, who is in a wheel chair and tube fed, almost died in December. Praise God he is doing great now but was in the hospital over an hours away for almost 3 weeks. In January my 17 year old daughter with significant special needs has been in and out of the hospital for some serious develpments in her health. These issues are still ongoing. :) I am not sharing this for sympathy or attention. God is good...I am blessed and content and happy in life. I just wanted to give you a peek into my life to help people understand my decission. That on top of these type issues that are a part of our lives I have to run a home, home school, run a small farm, and do all the duties of wife, mom, caregiver and such. Even though my tank is very simple and easy to care for. It still takes some time, effort and resourses that I dont always have to put forth. In order for a nano to stay in shape a water change can not be put off or skipped. I am looking for ways to simplify my life and this is one of the ways I have chosen. Many of my children will be lifing with us forever and will never live independly so I am not sure if at some point I will return to this hobby. I have had to do this one time before. Anyways on a happier note! Here are a few pictures of how the tank is setting and doing right this moment!
