2014 Planning

I ran a similar post in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and thought I would carry this forward another year.

I'll start... My 180 build finally happened in 2013.
In 2014 I will:

<li>Convert to Herbie system.</li>
<li>Move ATO from a container next to the tank to the garage with proper feed and Apex control.</li>
<li>Set-up automated water change system.</li>
<li>Install canopy lift system.</li>
<li>Build upon and restock fish and coral inventory.</li>
</ul>

So... what are you planning to do reef wise in 2014?
<ul>
<li>Are you going bigger? Down sizing? Changing equipment? Looking for that special fish or coral?</li>
<li>Did you meet your goals in 2013?</li>
<li>Where do you see your system a year from now?</li>
</ul>

im planning on upgrading to a 40 breeder, getting an apex, building a stand and canopy for said 40 breeder, getting 2 radion pros, getting one more mp10, and purchacing a nice skimmer for the setup.

In 2013 I joined the hobby and arc community. I started with a 55 gallon standard tank and upgraded to a 90 gallon rr recently. Running Kessils, 30 gallon sump/fuge.

For 2014 I plan to

-add an apex lite
-upgrade skimmer
-increase coral stock
-upgrade sump
-build auto water changing system

In 2013 I
1 came back to the hobby after about 1 year of a break
2 built a "nice" looking frag tank that is currently serving as my display tank.
3 bought my future 180 tank

Between now and 2014
1 continue accumulating fine specimen
2 move frag tank upstairs to master bedroom.
3 install my wife hardwood floors in the den
4 build proto type multichip led light for frag tank, the design to be evaluated and adapted to the 180 during 2014
5 build stand, sump for 180
6 accumulate equipment for 180
7 launch 180 by Fall of 2014.

Just upgraded my 36 to a 90g so I should be happy with that until this time next year lol. I wanna get this tank running smoothly and start stocking it with fish. I need to run float switches for ATO and get the underneath cleaned up. I'm planning on setting up a QT tank soon for the new fish. I'd like to get a new canopy that has more room and easier access to the tank.

I'm liking this idea.

- In 2014 I will have my 60 cube up and running. Hopefully 1st quarter or I'll be a frustrated reefer!
- That and the extra stuff I'll inevitably buy of it throughout the year should be enough.
- Hmm. Will add that I want to get my Biocube 29 in much better shape than now. The alkalinity issue really hosed that tank up.

you should do a build thread on that stand. ill be building one as well and would be interested to see how yours turns out

For 2014-Would like to yank out the few softies that are in the 180.And take out the torch coral that stung my birdsnest and see how it dose in the garden.That about dose it.

2014 - decide what size tank I'm going to get. Between 250-400 gallons. Depends on the best bang for the buck.

1) Get my empty 300g cleaned and set back up. It will likely be a FOWLR (maybe a few nonpalatable softies). I want tangs, angels, and butterflies in it.

2) Keep my current 150g as my reef tank. It now has a few frags in it but nothing major. In time, I hope it becomes a full-blown reef.

3) I have a 40B that I want to make into a seagrass/macroalgae tank in which I can try keeping seahorses.

4) I want all the above tanks plumbed into the same system.

5) Connect my sump, large skimmer, ATO, metal halides, etc that are currently sitting unused</em>.

if you're gonna get an apex you may want to forego the reeflink and just get a wxm module for your apex instead. itll allow you to control everything from one place instead of going to two diffrent sites to control your tank. and im pretty sure the wxm is cheaper than the reeflink

Already have everything in hand. I want to use my iPad to play with the lighting and such. At this point what is an extra few bucks plus my wife can play with it too. She would never use the crappy software that comes with the apex. IMO for such an amazing controller, their software is embarrassing to say the least.

Edit: other than that, and really the complete opposite... I want to fine tune things so that everything is VERY stabile as things grow out
