20G/10G Nano Tank [Newbie]

Hi, my friend will soon be giving me her 20G tank and was looking for basic layouts/systems that would be good for it (equipment wise). Also, is there any way of cutting it in half and using one as the tank and one as the sump because my dorm room may have a 10gal limit. thnks

I have a 10g tank that I had when I was in my dorm in Savannah that had a 2.5g fuge on the back (plumbed by siphon and pump return) on a wrought iron stand.

All for sale but i never had a sump/skimmer and only did water changes every week. its was great till I upgraded tanks to go larger. now i have no need for it.

but like grouper therapy asked, which are you wanting to split?

Yes but the bigger the better in terms of total water volume

What are you going to setup the 20 or a 10 gallon??

i have seen a couple rubber maid sumps on here, and was wondering how they compare to tank sumps?

They're fine. A sump is just a place to hide equipment: heaters, skimmers, etc. Anything that will fit will work fine.

So you want to use the 10 gallon for the display and the 20 gallon for the bottom sump correct?

you will need a heater and some lighting. Is this your first reef tank?

yes, this is my first reef tank. i have been doing research for about a week now and i am very excited about all this

my friend has a heater for me along with the 20G and 10G tank. so I need lights, a skimmer...what are other things to go in a sump?
