24 to 48Gal Cube SPS nano reef tank

I think the biggest benefit of using gyre pump is the “broad yet gentle” of flow that can be creates within “given length”. Nano tanks are so short, it’s hard to mimic any good flow. Two popular one ( nero3 and mp10) are more narrow and direct. Gyre is gentle enough for me to have sand bed currently running 2 of them at Random 50% intense + 2 of them reverse random 50% intense.

I cleaned up my sump area this weekend.

After: Ive cleaned up the emergency drain line. Modified return line and made manifold added to the return for future use.

Also removed one of the rock from the back left side to give better lighting and flow

Little shock to the systems

Did a water test today before heading out of the town for a week.

Had to recalibrate the Alkatronic (reading 9.4) seeing this result.

I’ve refilled the reagent few days ago and didn’t calibrate it. After calibration its reading 8.45.

My boy have regained his interest in my reef. lol

Forgot to take a photo but everything is alright. I’ve asked wife to feed more heavily.

Took some time to redo the controller board.

I’ve bought a toggle switch from a local reefer for my wife to use (turning off the powerhead and the skimmer for 30mins) when I’m out of the town. I like it. As you can see, it was looking messy and didn’t have proper place to put the switch controller.

Toggle switch will also be used when doing a water changes.

All the plugs for the smaller tank are anchored to the side. For whatever reason Apex ATO and Eheim Jager heater plugs are very short.

In the process, I realize she can actually use Alexa to turn the feed mode on. I had to put void line for the second command in case she actually turns off the whole tank for the maintenance. But she says she is going to use the switch.

I got this thing from goodwell and I think it fits well

Tank this morning.

I have decided to change the flow pattern. It use to be a gyre flow blowing from top down but now it will flow from side to side :)
Idea is to have flow hitting the corals from th sides instead of wave crushing in from the top down. It’s definitely moving more flows but also lesser evaporation. My daily evaporation has gone down to 0.5G from 0.8G atm. And am adjusting my 2pt dosing accordingly.

The return lines are blowing much stronger because I redid the return line. Removing 2x90 degree elbow it also raised my display water level.

Test result this morning @6am

Alkatronic matches. I had adjust much due to evaporation rate changes as well as daylight saving messing up the app.
IMG_7823.png

Phosphate. Last sat was 0.04
IMG_7804.jpeg

Nitrate: Last week was 6.9
IMG_7806.jpeg

Also had to recalibrate the apex’s ph probes when it start getting upto 9’s smh. Temp is also down extra 1 degree via controller.
