Two questions that I have seen mixed to little results on when searching.

1)Would it be a waste of time and money to build a sump out of the spare 10g tank I have laying around?

2) I have never messed with sumps and only seen them on drilled tanks. The 29g is not drilled just a standard AGA, how would I get the flow to the sump and back?

3) Being that this is my first real reef tank, would I be better off just holding out for a larger tank and turning the 29 into the sump?

Okay that was three...

Thanks
Steve

You could use a HOB (hang on back) overflow, but either getting your 29 drilled or changing to a RR tank would help the look and the reliability.

A 10g could work fine as a sump. Just plan carefully for the size of your skimmer, heaters etc because space is tight!

If you have room, I'd go with a 20 gallon for a sump.

I have an acrylic 30 gallon that I drilled in the back for the plumbing. If I were doing it over, I would drill the bottom instead and put in an internal overflow. You could make one with about $12 of acrylic.
