I havent kept a tank in over 5 years, the last i had was a 10 gal nano that did very well, but i sold it all. Ive decided to get back into the hobby. Probably gonna start a 30 gallon. Use distilled water, and cycle it with a little bit of live rock. In the past, i used a bio wheel filter and cyclone protein skmmer on all my tanks. They all did very well. I even kept an octo for a long time until she laid her eggs and passed away. Im wondering what type of filter and skimmer to use now-a-days? Im sure since ive been out something much better has come along. Im just going to have a 30 gal with some live rock, couple damsels, a small porcupine puffer, and a couple cleaner shrimp.. perhaps with a small clean up crew. Any suggestions on the filter and skimmer? Thanks.
