Ok, finally got my new tank all put together. Its definitely been a process since I have never had a reef ready setup but it was definitely worth it.

Here's the old tank:

Worked pretty good in the 1 bedroom apartment, but we closed on our house 2 weeks ago so it was time for something a little larger.

I decided to buy something brand new, so I paid a visit to Jenn at Imagine Ocean and she got me an awesome deal on the tank, stand and sump.

Shipment:

Normally I would have taken pictures between the unwrapping and final product, but moving into the new house and setting this tank up simultaneously was pretty much a nightmare :mad2:
But I managed.

Couldn't do a traditional hanging setup because the best place to put the tank ended up being in a bad spot to hang from the ceiling:

So, I picked up some shelf arms at home depot and anchored them in to hold my member modified LED's:

Got a smaller sump down below, holds about 10 or so gallons I think. But I threw a Tunze 9006 skimmer in it and a 9W UV sterilizer as well.
Picked up a battery backup and thats running my MP10 and return pump just in case.

I'm sure I'll be posting updates on coral/fish since I have more room now and can finally expand a little, lol.

Let me know what you think!

Haha, thanks man. I really wanted something I could be happy with size-wise but at the same time not have as much maintenance necessary. This 2'x2' footprint was perfect for me. I also figured since I was going to do a whole new setup I would do it right and spring for some of the more expensive components :)

Looking good man. :-) I like the way you hung the lights. Nothing wrong with that. :-) Looking forward to seeing this one as it progresses. Oh, congrats on the new house. :-)

That setup is identical to what I have planned when I move to my new house and get settled at the end of this month. Those are killer tanks for the price

Looking good, Ramon!

Congrats on home ownership too! :)

Thanks all, now I just need to figure out how to put some form of cover on it so the cats dont try jumping in...Again! Got some new kittens and one of them took a dive the other day, broke some corals but otherwise everything was ok.

So yea, suggestions are welcome, lol. Kinda wish I had a rim around the tank now lol.

you could either do a clear mesh screen from brs and somehow rig it to stay on your tank since its designed to sit in a rim or you could go to your local plastics store and have them cut some 1/4-3/8 acrylic to the size of your tank then slovent weld a tiny bit of scrap acrylic to the underside to fit just inside the rim in each corner to keep it from sliding and drill a small hole to make it easy to lift it off the tank
by the way great looking tank i have a 60 cube in the garage of the same dimensions except taller and the main reason its in the garage empty instead of inside and full is because it was too deep i wish i would have gotten a thirty like that instead lol

i agree with pico, i used to have a 60g cube and it never even got filled up. the whole time i was thinking it was too deep. now i have the happy medium between your 30 and my old 60; i have a 45 which is 24x24x18. but i really wish it was rimless like yours

My brother was in town and was able to take a few nice photos of my tank and inhabitants :)

Such a clean design. I was eyeing that setup at Imagine and now I'm sorta jealous. Looks great!

You said it's an upgrade from a 10 but the original looks too tall to be a standard 10?

Yea the packaging said 10gal but it was like 2 inches taller than most 10 gallons are, kinda weird, but it worked. Still have it in the garage, trying to think what else I could do with it.

I am really happy with this tank though, the clean look is really what I wanted after seeing so many good looking cube setups on here.
