I am thinking about purchasing a 300 watt led to go over my 65 gallon tank. Anybody using led over corals? I have an led or a planted tank which does great but lets face it you can grow most low light guys under a night light. Hoping someone is using leds over their tank and can share their thoughts and views.

Way over kill IMO. The point of LED is to reduce power consumption. Google AI Sol Unit, these have 24 3 watt LEDs and grow coral very well from what I've heard.

Also check the DIY forum category here there are a few builds going on currently.

You've got a 400 over a 65 gal ?

How do you cover the whole footprint?

I is suspended over the center of the tank

Edit: meant It is suspended

Edit: tank is 36x20x21

how high?
it just seems like you'd bleach anything directly under the light..
arent' 400s typically used in tanks over 26" deep?

I've got 2 250s on my 90.. I couldnt imagine anything brighter.. (it's a 60" tank)

fwiw, I have 2, 400 watt radiums over my tank.....82 gallons.

its 14 inches of the tank. our local shop has a 1000w pendant over a 4x4x24 tank thats 20 inches above it
