40 gal breeder reef

Has anyone have a thriving reef tank with a 40 gal breeder tank and only Marineland 305 filter with water flow and heater.

I have one with corals worth around $3000 in a 40 gal breeder.

Want to get an insight if anyone has this kind of set up.

im going to drill mine and use a sump with filter socks and skimmer vs a hob filter like the op is using.

Im in the process of building a 40B. What started out as an all in one tank has changed into me building a peninsula stand with a 34 gal sump. Im ready to buy the lumber and start building the stand...cant wait!

holy mother of overbuilt stand and canopys batman. i gotta say though that guy did some quality work it turned out really nice.

Wow... that is nice! Thanks for remindimg me of how far away I actually am from finishing...lol.

As soon as i start building the stand ill post some pics of where im at.

a buddy of mine are trying to make a frag tank system with two or three 40b going off a 40b sump. ill have to document the build once we get started

thats pretty much the plan for mine. im thinking of using 1/2" ply to skin the canopy though just not sure if it will look weird with the stand being 3/4"

me too. are you going to use the stand and canopy trim to cover the tank trim or leave that exposed? im gonna try to cover mine

I am basically just going to build a 2x4 and 1x2 frame and have a really thin sheet of wood skinned over the entire thing in removable panels. This way it can be stripped down to the bare frame for super easy maintenance.
