Has it been in a tank before? If so I'll dump it.

I would just wash it really well. I can't imagine it would be a problem.

It's probably alright after heavy washing, but why would you risk it when a bag of sand is cheap especially compared to the cost of a crash?

Your right A bag is cheap but not when buying sand for a 120.. Lol but I might háček to just buy all new sand

Have you opened the bucket recently? Your nose may help you decide... :-X

Yes, bucket of sand is fine, put a lid on it and it smells like something died in it

It'll be fine. I was given used sand that was in a 10g rolling cooler and I washed it in 3 gallon buckets.. stuck a water hose in it and ran it till it was clear.. stirred it up a bit too.. that was with the 40g tank.. all went well and there was no issues.

Tank is good. got pics on facebook and just updated with a couple pics in build thread Chris just dropped off the sump he built for me today and now i need some filter socks and plumb it all in :)

I'd say rinse the sand and reuse it with no issue.

Just fill a 5G bucket about 1/2 way up, stick a garden hose in it and rinse it 'til it comes clean (requires stirring, dumping, repreating). Then either let it dry, or put it in a tank and let the tank run for a while to clear out the chlorine from the hose water and you'll be fine.

Now there is a sight for sore eyes. Welcome back Barb. :-).
