I currently have a 46 galling bow front that is about 650lbs. I live on the 2nd floor of am apartment and I'm getting a 65 in the next few weeks. Do you guys think it would be ok for a 65? It would probably be like 750lbs because I'm not going to use the rock in my 46 (about 100lbs)

I know someone w a 120 on the 3rd floor. Wise? No lol but a 65 will be fine.

At one time my old roommate and I had 3 80 gallons, a 125, 65, 40, 35, 55 and a couple of nanos in an apartment on the second floor. That is what you get when 2 guys work at a fish store. The apartment had been built in the 1940s or so and we never caved in.

Freezerrat is correct on this and usually on a second or third floor you have walls down below to help carry the load. Dimensional lumber can carry alot more force being pushed down than what most people realize. It is wind that pushes from the side that usually destroys houses.

Very good point guys. Thank you. I thought it would be ok too. I'm just trying to finish making my finance ok with it as well.
