70 Gallon Build Thread

Looks awesome! Really like the rock work. Now is the bulkhead hold up the rock?

Yeah. It's a 1" bulkhead drilled into 1/4" acrylic with some additional pieces of acrylic to space the bottom from the bulkhead. Then I inserted a 3/4" acrylic rod into the pvc to hold the rocks.

This will be an awsome tank. I like the rock work. I stink at aquascaping.

Unbelievable success at this early stage, as the elusive Pink Pantherfish is spotted among the rockwork!

LOL, nice work. Keep posting!

Sorry for the delay. It's had water in it for about a month and the amm, trites are at zero. I put in a snail today to make sure it's OK before I add the fish. Here's a few pics:

Still need to set up the phosban reactor, but getting close!

The snails may have trouble getting back onto the rockwork if they fall off because only a tiny portion of the rock is touching the sand.

That's funny. The only snail I have in there has been on the glass twice and the rock work as many times.

Looking really good Matt! The rock is awesome! Can't wait to see this grown out.

Looking excellent Matt. I can already envision where you are heading with this build after your previous tank....this is gonna be a great thread to follow. Especially nice to see sand in this one!

Awesome looking tank. Let me know when you get ready to add some corals. I have some Atomic Sunrises with your name on em.

That looks great. I love the rock work. I'd love to check it out before I aquascape my new tank

No problem. You're welcome any time. I could probably lend you a hand, too. Will work for frags!

cool. where did you buy the macro rock?

Got the rocks from

Here are a few pics I took today. Still need to add more corals and has a long way to go. I recently replaced the lumenarc 250W with a Lumen Bright XL and 400W bulb.

I don't have any pic updates, but have changed my stock list a little. I currently have a pair of onyx clowns, 4 purple queen anthis, a rhomboid wrasse pair, and a leopard wrasse. I'm thinking of adding a smaller species of bristletooth tang, but am not sure. I'll post updated pics when I get back into town.
