75 rimless mixed reef

2 , PD Grow Amazon lights for now. I'm going to really try the dedicated fuge for the main filter .

Black up plan is in place as well.

Got both MP40s up and running now .
Yes I turned them both up full blast and 10k gph is too much in a 75 gallon tank :D . Turbulent is an understatement. At normal speed about 3/4 up running random facing each other there's plenty of flow especially in the upper 1/3 of the tank

Going to start running the lights on full schedule tomorrow and check for algae growth after a week or so . If I see anything abnormal I'm considering just blacking it out again for a week before adding corals.

I have a full house of happy fish . Tomini tang , yellow corris wrasse , George and weezy the homeless clownfish , a lawn mower blenny that absolutely destroys algae , a yellow watchman goby , and a sharknose goby all are pretty small still . I got 44 pieces of coral mounted and 31 to go . Keep running out of glue .

Pics to come

Tank looks great, really like the combination of fish you selected. Especially the Corris Wrasse

Ok today was the day . 29gallon ..out of here
All 3 noopsyche k7s mounted and on , doser hooked up....and the couch back in the center of the room.

I think the long lightless cycle and the fuge being up and running has worked great . I have several types of algae both intentional and unintentional growing in the refugium . The cheato and sea lettuce are growing super fast , there was some small patches of bubble algae ,and even a little briopsys growing in there yesterday . The fuge is also crammed full of blue leg hermits , mini brittle stars and tons of pods and bristle worms. Absolutely 0 algae growing in the display . Any little bit that pops up is immediately eaten by the tomini tang or the lawn mower blenny .. I have got to get a better way to take pics

All the fish swim in a school ..lol and everyone loves the floating rocks in the middle of the tank .. it's the hang out .

Zoa garden is coming along nicely

That floating rock really just provides an amazing dimension to this aquarium. May have to copycat that on my next build !

Finally got a few hrs free time to do some MUCH needed cleaning so I took some quick pics . The SPS is happy , mushrooms are leaving little mushroom babies , most lps is splitting or growing pretty quick , and I couldn't be happier with the rate of growth in all the zoas . Most of the zoanthid frags were just a few polyps to start with.

Wow lots of growth. Looking good
Thanks , my maintenance is about a 4 out of 10 right now ..just my busy season . Lucky they get fed at this point, some days I don't even see the lights on as I'm gone before they come on and home after 10pm .

I did just upgrade to the jumbo flipper scraper which makes cleaning the glass a breeze.

Been a rough month on my reef. Had a few power outages . Had a zoa eating nudi infestation that I treated with flat worm exit ....killed the nudi , dropped the ALK pretty bad . This caused a few lps residents to be very unhappy. I now assume with them being unhappy the consumption of calcium was not happening at there normal rate and now the calcium and all spiked. Was doing water changes to fix the parameters and somewhere along the line one of my refugium lights ( the main one ) went out. Well this caused a huge spike in nutrients even with the water changes . The corals that were already unhappy went into meltdown mode to the tune of a few thousand dollars . Lost 5 torches ,3 hammers and a frogspawn . Some of which I've had for a few yrs . Lost a couple galaxia ,all the mushrooms , and 5 SPS pieces that were doing really good .

Pretty depressing to even look at the tank at this point. I got the fuge lights replaced , parameters all back to spec , adjusted the dosing down and after a couple 75%water changes everything is not melting anymore. Now I have a small algae outbreak going on . Part of me wants to fix it and overcome ,part of me wants to unplug it .

Man that sucks. Stay in this hobby long enough and you are going to have a major crash from one thing or another. I know when my bio cube crashed from a bad heater I was devastated. I let it sit for a couple months but then took it as a personal challenge to get it back in shape. I understand it is tough

I think I'm stubborn enough to keep it cause I like a challenge. Just the total loss of my favorite pieces is a punch in the gut
