Set up this nano in February. Video is in HD, you would have to select 720 or 1080p by clicking on the settings icon

Seeing as how my little nano got 0 comments I figured it must look like crap. lol. re-did the scape today, everything's still a little ticked off. Waiting for the nem to figure out where it wants to be before I add more corals. Might add a small rock to the top. Made some space on the sand bed to accommodate a few clams, but that means I have to catch the shrimp and emerald crab because I don't trust them. Especially the shrimp.

I want to nuke those aiptasia, but I'm waiting to see if I get some nudis or filefish. There has been only 2 in there for months. In my other biocube a few turned into many when I started hitting them with Aiptasia X

I think my clowns are soon to outgrow this tank if they haven't already. I've been meaning to move them over, but I might be breaking down the 29 soon to nuke the rock.

sweet little tank! nice job. I miss my desktop tank. Had five sexy anemone shrimp in mine, so call to watch...

Thanks

I know that I have to move the fish and have been reluctant to for several reasons. They seem pretty happy, she (or the larger one at least) spends most of her time in the nem, left it for a while after I moved the rocks around but was snuggled back up for bed. He kind of hangs out and tries to touch the nem if she will let him. Lol.

I am going to have to consider what livestock will live in this tank after they leave. Some anemone shrimps and a goby or pair of gobies could be cool.

Anybody have any suggestions for adding/replacing coral? Always looking to improve my nano and I have a couple that I am move corals
About. I do miss the frogspawn in this one but between the nem and the FS and the aleveopora there wasn't much room for anything else.

I think the alveopora will move to the 30 rimless, it doesn't show it's full potential
In this low-flow tank

Nice tank there are a lot of gobies and invers that work in this tank . For the center piece attraction i would a yasha pistol pair or a yellow head jaw fish. then add an anemonie crab , blue porcelin crab, skunk cleaner, tuxedo urchin, for fish red headed goby , a pair of mask gobies ,wheelers gobies. I can name others but these are just some of the ones I have kept and know to get along together.

This tank now belongs to Kris (PFCDietz)

I'm actually about to break it down right now and get it cleaned up for pickup.

Woah I think it looked great to begin with! Lol

Better than mine lol

im just starting out so I got a looong way to go lol.

I think the new scape looks awesome too!!

It did really good for me for about 8 months. The coraline algae growth in this tank was pretty incredible. I have mentioned that this tank crashed, but I have been reluctant to mention why. Somehow, I had 0 losses except for maybe the emerald crab who I haven't seen.

The reason why this tank crashed is because I mixed salt for a water change in my top off water. I've used the same blue bucket that I keep RO water in to top off this tank every night. Well, I used that water to mix saltwater and did a small water change when I was using all my other buckets to temporarily hold rocks. I forgot what I had done, and went about my routine of refilling the tank with the water in the blue bucket like I always do.

This isn't the first top off disaster I've had. The first one was quite the opposite and devastated my frag tank killing everything. This time I slowly raised the specific gravity each night as I topped off with saltwater. It happened over the course of about 10 days. My biggest mistake was neglecting to test the water. Once everything started looking bad, I tested it only to discover that my SG was close to 1.040. I actually did the same thing to my 29 which effected it less given the larger water volume.

I'm pretty amazed that I didnt lose the cleaner shrimp.

Pretty embarrasing

I had a salinity of 1.023 - a lil low I have added one a small amount of topoff water that is saltwater and with the water change tested next day at 1.024. I will move to distilled after testing again tomorrow to make sure im around 1.026 desired.

tanks for the tip!

Sounds like a mistake that could hapoen to anyone! I have a bunch of buckets sitting in my living room so I see that possible for it to happen to me. Good lookin out ;)

Maybe the story will prevent someone else from making the same mistake, maybe, but I do have some actual advice for you.

I wouldn't use distilled water in a reef tank, only RODI water.

It may be something that some people have to learn on their own, I know that I wouldn't listen to those who tried to get through to me. but there are investments that must be made and buying the cheaper version will cost more in the long run. I need an ato so that all I have to do is refill the reservoir. Seems that you need an RODI unit, or be willing to make a trip to the LFS often to buy water.

I started out with a nano and no RODI unit, but my brother had one, and lived right by my work. I couldn't imagine driving to the nearest LFS every time that I had to go fill my jugs.

I had to buy one, and I bought a crappy one, so now I have to buy another one. So my advice would be buy a good RO unit
