Yeah if your wanting a reef you might eant to rethink the urchin. . They like to pick things up and move them

Is wait a short bit on the cleanup crew till you have something to clean up. Otherwise they just stand around and get lazy....

And then die. Which can then cause an algae bloom thinking it wasn't big enough the first time lol!

Also, some people don't like hermits in their CUC at all. They are opportunistic feeders and if they're hungry and a snail is close by... And sometimes they'll kill a snail just to see if the shell is a better fit.

I've always had them and not sure I'll use any in my next tank. Haven't seen any evidence that they are more beneficial than just snails and I have had to intervene to save, temporarily anyway, a snails life from a hungry or cramped hermit.

I have three urchins in my 150. I love them and will ALWAYS have unrchins in any tank. They do bulldoze things on occasion but not enough to matter to me.

Depends on where they drop them. I've had a pistol shrimp bury about 4 or 5 frags by moving them or moving sand on top of them. If it drops it and it lands coral down in the sand they'll usually live as long as you see it the same day. No guarantees if it drops a coral on another coral though. Then there's always the chance it takes it somewhere and drops it that you can't see and 2 months later you're sure you had a frag of X but can't figure out where it went lol! I've also found frag plugs with only a skeleton left and that's when I remember that I had that coral...

This is a reason many people will have a dedicated frag tank or if the sump is big enough maybe a frag rack in the sump. I'm thinking of having an urchin as well. Just have to be prepared.

I believe you're thinking of a skunk cleaner shrimp.

Coral Banded Shrimp are not obligate cleaners.

Like just about every aquarium species, it is up to the individual animal's temperament. Some will be naughty, some will be nice. I had a huge Coral Banded Shrimp for years. Never messed with fish, but did eat peppermint shrimp.
