WOW! That just goes to show you tanks are not built like they used to be. Simply amazing. :confused2:

WOW! If you read the post he says the tank is actually 36 years old but close enough. Thats pretty amazing though.

Close enough for me. LOL

I absolutely decimated a patch of Valonia (bubble algae) with it the other day. I haven't had a chance to use mine extensively. I hit the Valonia with it, and it takes a couple days, but the Valonia turns clear then breaks up. It cuts through zoa flesh like a hot knife cuts styrofoam. I had two aptaisia on the overflow of my Marineland DD 150, located in a spot they could not retract into. I hit them with it, and they are 100% gone.

The only issue I could see with it is with aptaisia and majanos that can retract deep into holes in the LR where you cannot get the foot, which is the main shortcoming of every aiptasia treatment, IMO, whether it be CBB, Napalm, Joe's juice, or the Zapper.

One definite advantage is you can use it without nearly the collateral damage you can have with Kalk or Napalm, like an aptiasia in the middle of a zoa colony.

No one has determined yet if the zapper killing is done by the electricity, or the chlorine gas it generates. I'd guess both.

Interesting. How are the emerald's doing with your bubble algae?

Hasn't been long enough to tell yet. They just went in yesterday afternoon.

That's an OLD tank. My first SW tank 25 or so years ago had an undergravel filter, and red and blue plastic plants.... :yuk:

The oldest tank we service was built in 1973 by O'Dell (which used to be just around the corner on Univeter Road). It's only been a reef for about 7 or 8 years (we converted it from freshwater to saltwater). Tank is built very solidly. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
