I have quite a few hitchhikers on my new LR. Anyone know what these are?

what about the vien-like things with fuzzy red tips?
How i kill aptasia?

Pic 1 - Aptasia
Pic 2/3 - Paly... maybe majano
Pic 4 - Red feather duster

I would try to kill the aptasis, get a better pic of the polyps in 2&3 and dont worry about the feather dusters if you like the look of them, they will spread throughout the tank and are a filter feeder

Not sure about pic 4. Feather dusters. To kill aptasia u need either aiptasia x or other chem or pepperment shrimp. (Sorry about typo/spelling im driving lol)

1. Ultra high end aptasia....you should frag that one. Lol...
2-3 palys
4. feather dusters

don't think I added anything to this thread.

pic 4 is for sure feather dusters. These types are native to the carribean and will sometime tangle themselves together in big clumps, they come in on wholesalers list as 'red duster clusters'

Not sure, but why risk it? If it were me I would puddy over it and never look back.

oh cool that works all the time , i am still trying to find out why they even make other things to get rid of them, you know like aiptasia x:shades:

thats not the answer to the problem . it could squeeze threw a hole on other side of rock.

it is still in your system.

what if it comes out the back side of the rock and spreads all over before you notice it:huh:

taking the cheap easy way out at the moment will always cause more problems.

but we all make mistakes i have done the exact same thing when i first started , what a mess i created.

at the same time why ask for an id or for help to get rid of it if your not going to listen?

i am not trying to be rude or ugly in anyway , just trying to help.

Eric

ok so when i first read your message i thought you said you had. but i think you was asking if that is what you should do.

NO dont putty over it. it might have a hole that leads through the rock and would only come out the back side and spread unnoticed and cause you more problems.
